Financial Support

Internal Support

Graduate students enrolled in the program are typically funded through departmental assistantships (e.g., teaching and research assistants, office assistants, etc.), whereby students can earn a stipend to financially support their academic endeavors.

In addition, the department has a limited number of scholarships available for graduate students in the program.

Current departmental scholarships:

  • B.F. Skinner Teaching Scholarship ($1000)
  • Dissertation Award in Neuropsychology ($500)
  • Outstanding Scholar Award ($500)

However, many students have living expenses beyond that which can be afforded through their stipends.

For this reason many students opt to find additional funding through student loans and private scholarships (see "External Support" section).

External Support

Student loans are a viable way to financially support graduate students in our program. A large majority of our graduate students took out student loans last year. Please visit the Financial Aid Office if you would like further information.

Private scholarships are another way to fund your graduate education. A number of students have reduced their loans by taking advantage of the many private scholarships available.

Private scholarships:

  • National Science Foundation Graduate Research Grant
  • APA Dissertation Award in Developmental Psychology
  • American Psychological Foundation Todd E. Huston Memorial Award
  • APA Early Research Award
